UPSC Recruitment 2022: The Union Public Service Commission is looking for applicants to fill the position of Junior Scientific Officer (Ballistics) at the Directorate of Forensic Science Services in the Ministry of Home Affairs. The maximum age for applicants from Scheduled Castes cannot be older than 30 years old. According to the many Instructions and Orders that are published by the Government of India on a regular basis, the age limit for regularly appointed central and union territory government servants can have up to five years of their age relaxed. As it relates to Ex-Servicemen and Commissioned Officers, including ECOs and SSCOs, the Upper Age Limit may be lowered by five years, but only under the condition that, as of the date that applications will no longer be accepted, an Ex-Serviceman must have served continuously in the Armed Forces for a minimum of six months after their attestation.
ECOs/SSCOs whose Initial Period of Assignment of 05 (Five) Years of Military Service has been extended beyond Five Years as on the End Date of Online Registration of Application and whose Ministry of Defence issues Certificates that they will be released within 3 Months on Selection from the date of Receipt of Offer of Appointment are also eligible for this Upper Age relaxation.
This Upper Age relaxation is also available to ECOs/SSCOs who have completed their Initial Candidates who wish to claim an age reduction under this paragraph are required to provide the Union Public Service Commission with a certificate that is formatted according to the specifications provided by the commission.
Essential Qualification(s): Essential Qualifications for JSO (Ballistics) Post: Any Competent Applicant who is interested to apply for the Post should have the following Essential Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree in Physics/Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/Forensic Science with Physics/Mathematics as one of the Subjects throughout all three years of the Bachelor of Science programme with Physics/Mathematics as one of the Subjects during all three years of the Bachelor of Science programme.
- Experience: Three years of experience in the Research and Analytical Work in the Ballistics field in any Central and State organization/Recognized Institute/University/Forensic Science Laboratories under the Central Government and State Governments. This experience must have been gained in the field of ballistics.
Experience gained from working in a forensic science laboratory is highly desirable (FSL)
Note 1: The Union Public Service Commission has the authority to, at its own discretion, relax the aforementioned Qualifications in the event that the Candidates are otherwise well-qualified.
Note 2: The Qualifications of the Candidates regarding the Experience are relaxable at the discretion of the UPSC, for reasons to be recorded in writing in the case of those belonging to the Scheduled Caste Community, if at any stage of selection, the UPSC is of the opinion that the sufficient number of candidates from this Community having the Requisite Experience are Unlikely to be available for filling up the vacancies reserved for them. The reasons for this relaxation are to be recorded in writing.
Selection Criteria for the UPSC Recruitment Test, in Addition to Other Considerations
Note 1 The Union Public Service Commission will carry out the recruitment process for the post of Junior Scientific Officer (Ballistics), and the process will be as described in the following sections.
Note 2 In the event that the Union Public Service Commission receives a large number of applications from applicants, it will most likely adopt the Shortlisting Criteria with the intention of limiting the number of eligible candidates who will be called in for an interview to a reasonable number. This can be accomplished using any one or more of the following methodologies:
- If more than one desirable quality is listed, the decision might be made “on the basis of Desirable Qualification (DQ) or any one or all of the DQs.”
- Because the applicant has more experience in the field in question than the minimum requirement specified in the advertisement.
- By counting the Prior Professional Work-Experience accrued either before or after earning the Essential Qualifications.
- By relying on previous work experience even in situations in which experience is not specified either as an essential qualification (EQ) or as a desirable qualification (DQ).
- Through the administration of a Selection Exam (RT).
Therefore, the candidate should include all of their particular qualifications and experiences in the appropriate field, in addition to the Minimum Qualifications, in order to be considered for the position.
Note-3 Viva-voce and Personality Tests each have a total weight of 100 points and are explained as follows:
I The Category-wise Minimum Level of Suitability in the Interviews (100 Marks), which should remain the same regardless of whether the Selection is made only through an Interview or through Recruitment Test (RT) followed by the Interview, shall continue as follows:
a) The candidate must get at least the Unreserved Minimum Qualifying 50 Marks out of a total of 100 Marks. b) Sections 50 and below that are economically weaker. c) Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Caste/Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): 40 Marks, and c) Other Backward Community: 45 Marks
ii) The candidate will be required to attain the Minimum Level of Suitability in their respective Categories at the Interview Stage in the circumstances when selection is made via Recruitment Test (RT) followed by the Personal Interview.
