There is good news for medical students who were forced to stop their studies due to Russia’s attack on Ukraine (Russia Ukraine War). For such Indian students, Uzbekistan has opened the doors of its medical institutions.
Uzbekistan’s ambassador to India told on Thursday that their country is providing seats in medical colleges to 2,000 such Indian students.
Steps taken on the request of Government of India
According to the report of IANS, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov told that on the request of the Government of India, the Medical Higher Educational Institute (MHEI) of Uzbekistan has decided to admit Indian medical students who have returned from Ukraine.
Akhatov said, MHEI has prepared to give this admission under the erstwhile Medical Council of India (MCI) and existing National Medical Council (NMC) norms (Screening Test Regulations 2002) and (Foreign Medical Graduate Licensee- FMGL Regulations 2021). MHEI will provide education to the students on an affordable budget, which will cover the cost of education as well as accommodation.
Opportunity to study in two graduation programs
According to Akhtov, Uzbekistan is offering Indian students two medical graduation programs, which are equivalent to International Medical Studies. One program is 6 years MD Diploma, while the other program is 5+1 year MBBS degree with one year internship.
MHEL has state-of-the-art infrastructure and environment to prepare students who are eligible to clear the FMGL/NEXT exam required to take up medical practice in India. Its affiliated government hospitals and clinics have a large number of teaching beds and supplementary training with 30 per cent Indian and international professors.
