Shark Tank India: In a recent episode of Shark Tank India, YouTube sensation Arvind Arora took to the stage to present his digital learning platform, Conker World. Arora’s venture, established in 2022, offers courses on a variety of digital skills such as spoken learning, Python coding, and YouTube mastery, among others. Despite its impressive download figures exceeding 9 lakh and promising sales in its first six months, Arora’s pitch did not go as planned.
A Controversial Equity Proposition
The pitch began with Arora’s rather unconventional ask of a ₹40 lakh investment for a mere 1% equity stake. The proposal was intriguing, as it suggested a significant valuation of the company. However, the Sharks were less than thrilled when Arora proposed distributing the equity between them in fractions of a percent. The offer later changed to a more conventional 2% equity stake, which only seemed to further irritate the investors.
A Question of Value in the Educational Tech Market
One of the main sticking points of the pitch was the value proposition of the Conker app. One Shark, Anupam, openly questioned whether consumers would be willing to pay for recorded educational content, given the wealth of free resources available online. This, combined with a perceived lack of knowledge about competitor Seekho and unclear customer acquisition costs, led to a unanimous decision by the Sharks to decline Arora’s offer.

The Aftermath: Public Reactions and Future Prospects
Following the pitch, reactions online were mixed, with some criticising Arora’s unfocused pitch, while others expressed disappointment at the Sharks’ response. Despite not securing a deal, Arora remains committed to Conker World and its mission to provide affordable, content-rich courses that offer better job opportunities. The experience on Shark Tank India, while perhaps not the expected outcome, has certainly provided additional exposure for Arora and his digital learning platform.
