Vikram Gokhale: Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale, who was fighting for life in a Mumbai hospital for some days now, has shown improvement in his health. He is out of critical condition, and will likely be taken out of ventilator in the next 48 hours, according to the hospital.
Gokhale, popularly known for his roles in films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Bhool Bhulaiyaa, was admitted to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune earlier following health complications. While he suffered multiple organ failure and was quite critical, he is getting better now, hospital authorities say.

Slow but steady improvement
An official statement issued by Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital gave update about Vikram Gokhale’s health. The statement read, “Noted actor Mr. Vikram Gokhale is showing slow but steady improvement. He is opening his eyes, moving his limbs and likely to be off ventilatory support in 48 hours. His BP & heart are stable.”
Earlier, Vikram Gokhale’s family friend Rajesh Damale said to the media, “In the last 24 hours, his health has been very critical. The doctors are trying their best. He is fighting since last the 24 hours. Multiple organ failure has been reported. Updates will be shared as and when there is a development in his health. He is not responding to the medicines as expected by the doctors. However, the doctors are trying hard for his revival.”
On Thursday, Gokhale was reported to have passed away. However, his wife Vrushali Gokhale denied the rumours. Vrushali said that Vikram had slipped into coma Wednesday afternoon and has not responded to touch since then. He was on ventilator.

Multi-organ failure
Gokhale was hospitalised on November 5 after he fell ill. He had improved a bit but slipped again. She said that he has had host of issues like in heart and kidney and at this moment, he has had a multi-organ failure.
On the work front, Vikram Gokhale is known for his work in films like Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Parwana, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Agneepath, and Khuda Gawah. The prolific actor, who respected name in Indian cinema, is also a recipient of the National Award for Best Actor in 2010 for his performance in the Marathi film, Anumati. He has also worked on television. Some of his popular shows are Ghar Aaja Pardesi, Alpviraam, Jaana Na Dil Se Door, Sanjeevni, Indradhanush.
