The Kerala Story has emerged as a commercial box office hit. The film has minted over Rs 50 crore in less than one week of its release. Along with the film, the spotlight is also on the leading lady Adah Sharma. Now, the actor has reacted to the success and criticism of the film.
Adah Sharma on the success of The Kerala Story
Adah Sharma in an exclusive chat with TOI reacted to the commercial success of The Kerala Story. She said that despite not being a product of nepotism, the entire country is ‘rooting for me’. “I’m humbled and numb. The dreams I had for myself have been so tiny. These are the dreams that my loved ones have for me that are coming true.”
Adah Sharma on combating opposition
The film has also created a political stir across the country with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party supporting the film while the opposition such as TMC chief Mamata Banerjee imposing a ban on the film.
Reacting to this, Adah said, “The awareness that the film has created will save the lives of so many girls. The support we have received is huge. I am grateful.”

How did the film affect Adah Sharma?
Adah, who plays the role of Shalini Unnikrishnan in the film, said that she has been physically and emotionally scarred. “These are scars to the depths of my soul. Scars that won’t be healed in a lifetime.
Adah Sharma acknowledged that the film is the biggest hit of her career. She said that the film is going to change the course of many lives. She said that it gives her fulfillment knowing ‘we are the voice of so many stories’. “That is my celebration,” she said.
