Ajay Devgn is all set to enter digital platform with his first-ever crime-drama series Rudra – The Edge of Darkness. Produced by Applause Entertainment in association with BBC Studios India, the series is the Hindi remake of the British show– Luther.
This Hotstar Specials series will soon be going into production and will be shot across iconic locales of Mumbai.
“My attempt has always been to tell unique stories and work with good talent. The idea is to raise the bar of entertainment in India. The digital world excites me, and I am looking forward to working with Applause and BBC to bring this series to life on Disney+ Hotstar,” Devgn said in a statement.
Devgn also tweeted:
Talking about playing a cop, the “Singham” actor added: “Playing a cop on screen is not new to me, but this time the character is more intense, complex and dark. What drew me most to his persona, is that he is possibly the greyest character you may come across in recent times.”
Devgn is the latest Bollywood name to have reconciled to the growing popularity of the web even as several stars and studios remained wary of direct-to-digital releases during the covid-19 pandemic last year.
“The scale at which Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness is being created is enormous and is a testament to our passion for creating compelling, disruptive content,” said Sunil Rayan, President & Head, Disney+ Hotstar.
Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor will be also seen on Amazon Prime Video in an untitled drama thriller created by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, while Akshay Kumar has confirmed action show The End for Amazon Prime Video.
Devgn is currently busy shooting for his MayDay. He also has films like Thank God, Kaithi, Chanakya, the YRF film, and many more. The actor is also waiting to release his next Bhuj: The Pride Of India, which will stream on Disney + Hotstar.
