Amala Paul: Actor Amala Paul recently visited Thiruvairankiulam’s Mahadeva Temple, but seems like her visit wasn’t what she would had expected it to be. On Wednesday, a few reports claimed that the actor was denied entry in the Hindu temple, citing ‘religious discrimination’. For the unversed, Amla Paul is a Christian by religion.
Amala Paul says ‘couldn’t go near the Goddess’
Amala Paul has alleged she was denied entry to Kerala’s Thiruvairankiulam temple citing it was only open for Hindus. As per an Etimes report, Amala, in the temple’s visitor register, wrote, “It is sad and disappointing that religious discrimination still exists in 2023. I couldn’t go near the Goddess but could feel the spirit from a distance.”
She added, “I hope there will be a change in religious discrimination soon. The time will come and we all be treated equally and not on the basis of religion.”
Temple secretary denies allegations
While Amala has cited religious discrimination, temple’s secretary Prasoon Kumar has said there is a bar to admin a non-believer inside the temple. “It is not said that believers of other religions do not reach the temple. But no one knows that. But when a celebrity comes, it becomes controversial. Intervening in understanding this. According to current customs, there is a bar to admit a non-believer. This was told to Amala Paul,” she said.
