Pathaan: Shah Rukh Khan is coming to the theatres with the biggest release of the year — Pathaan — in less than a week time. Ahead of its release, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers to refrain from making unnecessary comments against films. Now, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, who is the president of the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) has echoed the same sentiments as the Shah Rukh Khan starrer continues to face wrath across social media.
‘Big Boost of confidence to the film industry’
In a recent conversation with a leading daily, Ashoke Pandit said that PM’s warning to his own people will boost confidence of the entire film industry. “If the PM snubs his own people and tells them to shut up and not talk nonsense against the film industry, which is not their area, for mere publicity, it is a big boost of confidence for the industry. That the PM of the country is with you. The signal goes to not only the politicians, but even people from the media, our own industry itself,” Ashoke Pandit told Indian Express.
What PM Modi said
PM Modi on Wednesday, at the end of the two-day National Executive of the BJP, stated a few dos and don’ts for the party workers, asking them to refrain from making tasteless comments against films.
For the unversed, several BJP workers have objected to Pathaan song Besharam, leading to numerous protests against the film across the country.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in pivotal roles. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on January 23.
