Amit Lodha: Bihar cop who served as inspiration for Netflix series “Khakee,” faces corruption charge

Amit Lodha: The Bihar IPS officer, Amit Lodha, who received praise after the premiere of the Netflix series “Khakee: The Bihar Chapter,” has been accused of corruption and reportedly manipulating his position for financial benefit by the Bihar Police.

Lodha and the production firm

Lodha struck an agreement with the production company Friday Story Teller while he was an IPS officer, claims the Economic Offenses Wing of the Bihar Police. He allegedly agreed to a deal with the production company for Rs 1. However, according to the police, his wife’s account had a transaction for 49 lakh rupees.
According to sources in the police, some of the money in the wife’s account was deposited even before the agreement with the production firm was decided.

“Khakee: The Bihar Chapter”

The online series “Khakee: The Bihar Chapter” is based on Lodha’s book “Bihar Diaries: The True Story of How Bihar’s Most Dangerous Criminal Was Caught” and tells the tale of how the police managed to apprehend an infamous gangster who had terrorised Sheikhpura in Bihar.
Since he was assigned to be the Inspector General of Police in Gaya, according to the FIR filed against Lodha, he has been making money “illegally.”

According to the complaint, “Amit Lodha is not an established story writer neither he was authorised nor permitted to write book and use same for commercial purpose.”
