Now that’s a wrap! Anushka Sharma, who will play Jhulan Goswami, the former captain of the Indian national women’s cricket team, in the upcoming sports drama Chakda Xpress, has completed her filming commitments. The upcoming drama, directed by Prosit Roy, will be available on Netflix. The film’s production, which began in June 2022, has already concluded. Anushka Sharma, who undertook extensive training and outdoor schedules for Chakda Xpress, said that the filming was completed. Many questioned Anushka’s portrayal of Jhulan Goswami in the film in the past, as the filmmakers had experimented a lot with the actress’s looks, as seen by viral images from the set.
Anushka Sharma hugged director Prosit Roy
Anushka is seen in the wrap images wearing a Team India jersey as she cuts the cake with director Prosit Roy and Jhulan. The other image shows the actress hugging the director while the entire cast applauds. Another shows Jhulan finishing the shot with a final clap. Anushka is seen laying in a van in one of the set photos. She captioned the images, ‘It’s a wrap on #ChakdaXpress and thank you @JhulanGoswami for the final clap to bring an end to the shoot!’
Anushka Sharma on Chakda Xpress
The actress first teased Chakda Xpress earlier this year. The actress wrote on her Instagram account, “It’s a truly unique film since it’s essentially a story about incredible sacrifice. Chakda Xpress is inspired by former Indian skipper Jhulan Goswami’s life and times, and it will be an eye-opener into the world of women’s cricket. When Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and represent her country on the international level, it was extremely difficult as a women to even consider playing the sport. This video is a dramatic reenactment of several events in her life as well as in women’s cricket.”
