New Delhi: The Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest cinema honour, was presented to veteran performer Asha Parekh on Friday night at New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2020 was given to the 79-year-old actress. President Droupadi Murmu presented the award to Asha Parekh, who remarked, “The acknowledgment comes to me barely a day before my 80th birthday.” The epidemic caused the National Film Awards to be postponed by a year. Asha Parekh is well known for appearing in movies like Teesri Manzil (1966), Kati Patang (1970), and Caravan. Asha Parekh made her acting debut in Bollywood as a child artist in 1952 with the movie Aasmaan (1971).
Dil Deke Dekho, Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai (1961), Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon (1963), Teesri Manzil (1966), Baharon Ke Sapne (1967), Pyar Ka Mausam, Do Badan (1966), Chirag (1969), and Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki are just a few of the remarkable films Asha Parekh has been in. Additionally, she appeared in regional films in other languages, such as Gujarati, Punjabi, and Kannada. She appeared in Punjabi movies such as Lambhardarni with Dara Singh and Kankan De Ohle with Dharmendra.
Asha Parekh worked as a producer and director in addition to being an actress. Asha Parekh’s most recent film appearance was 1999’s Sar Aankhon Par.
