BAFTA 2023: On Sunday, the Royal Festival Hall in the Southbank Center played host to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts’ (BAFTAs) annual “Film Awards.”
The broadcast ceremony, which featured nominees Cate Blanchett, Ana de Armas, and Colin Farrell, was presented by actor Richard E. Grant. Eddie Redmayne, Brian Cox, Florence Pugh, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Cynthia Erivo, Julianne Moore, and Lily James were just a few of the celebrities and presenters who walked the red carpet on the south bank of the River Thames.
Queen Elizabeth II was honored
In support of refugees and other displaced persons, many people donned blue ribbons. Prince William, the heir to the throne and head of the British Film and Television Academy, went with his wife Kate, Princess of Wales. Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in September, was honoured by Helen Mirren. In “The Queen” and “The Audience,” Helen Mirren played the late monarch.
Austin Butler unexpectedly won best actor for “Elvis.” Trophies were also given to Baz Lurhmann’s extravagant musical for its casting, costume design, and hair and makeup. For the orchestral drama “Tár,” Cate Blanchett got the best actress award.”
