BAFTA 2023: The BAFTA nominees list would be released on January 19, with the award ceremony taking place a month later, on February 19 at the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre. The longlist in 24 categories was released today, and India may rejoice. SS Rajamouli’s RRR received a nomination in the ‘Film Not in the English Language’ category, despite the fact that Sanjay Leela Bhansai’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, starring Alia Bhatt in the lead role, did not make the cut.
RRR nominated in Film Not in English Language category
RRR has been added to the BAFTA shortlist. The SS Rajamouli film, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, was nominated in the category ‘Film Not in English Language’. The final list will be released on January 19, and one can only hope that the movie is nominated in the category.
This is just another feather in the cap of SS Rajamouli and RRR. RRR has received a significant number of international award nominations. The film’s song, Naatu Naatu, made it to the top 15 in the Original Song category for the Golden Globes 2023 on December 12. The film received four nominations at the HCA Film Awards on December 15. The official handle of RRR movie shared the announcement and wrote, ‘Very happy to share that RRR is in the LONGLIST of #BAFTA FILM AWARDS. Thank you everyone. #RRRMovie @BAFTA’
SS Rajamouli also gets nomination
While SS Rajamouli received a nomination for Best Director, the picture was nominated in three categories: Best Picture, Best Action Film, and Best International Film.
