Barbie trailer: Margot Robbie has brought Barbie to life in the trailer of Greta Gerwig directorial by the same name. One of the most awaited films of the year, the first Barbie trailer is out and it promises to be all fun.
The film stars Margot as the famous figurine along with Ryan Gosling as her boy toy, Ken. Dua Lipa plays the mermaid Barbie.
Come to the world of Barbie
The first trailer introduces the viewers to the world of Barbie, without revealing much about the storyline or the characters. It gives you a glimpse of what can be expected from the movie. All we know is that Barbie and Ken are no longer just dolls. They are placed in the real world and forced to take up real-life challenges.
Besides Margot and Ryan, the ensemble cast for Barbie includes Will Ferrell as the Mattel CEO, Connor Swindells, Nicola Coughlan, Emerald Fennell, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, America Ferrera, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman, Sharon Rooney, Ana Cruz Kayne, Ritu Arya and Jamie Demetriou. Emma Mackey, Issa Rae, Hari Nef, Alexandra Shipp, Simu Liu, Scott Evans and Ncuti Gatwa play different versions of Barbie and Ken.
Greta Gerwig directorial
Barbie is directed by Greta Gerwig, and co-written by the director and her husband and filmmaker Noah Baumbach. In the past, Greta had said, “That feeling that I had was knowing that it would be really interesting terror. Usually that’s where the best stuff is. I am terrified of that. Anything where you’re like, ‘This could be a career-ender,’ then you’re like, ‘OK, I probably should do it.’”
Barbie has been co-produced by Mattel Films, Heyday Films and Robbie and her husband Tom Ackerley’s, LuckyChap Entertainment. Josey McNamara from LuckyChap and Ynon Kreiz from Mattel are the executive producers.
Barbie arrives in theaters on July 21, 2023.
