The two big Hollywood movies ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ that Indian fans were eagerly waiting for finally released on Friday (July 21). The craze of both the films is on a different level among cinema lovers and speculations are rife that the box office collection of ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ is also going to be record breaking. However, in India, the audience is more interested in ‘Oppenheimer’ than ‘Barbie’. Christopher Nolan’s brilliant storytelling has impressed Indian fans, while ‘Barbie’ continues to dominate in the US. There is going to be a neck-to-neck competition for the earnings in both the films.
Box office prediction of ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’
The total cost of Greta Gerwig’s directorial venture ‘Barbie‘ is $145 million, not including marketing expenses. The film is expected to cross $100 million in the United States and Canada by the end of this week. Analysts are predicting the box office collection based on the audience’s massive interest in the film. While Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ was made at a cost of $100 million and according to experts, the film will earn around $50 million in North America by the weekend.
However, Warner Bros. has revealed that Barbie has only earned $30 million in pre bookings and is expected to take in about $75 million over the weekend. Whereas Universal Pictures has considered it not to comment on box office predictions. Based on the historical drama, the film will be released across 3,600 domestic screens.
Impressive Star cast of ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’
Directed by Greta Gerwig, ‘Barbie’ boasts of a stellar star cast including popular actor Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the lead roles. The film is mostly targeting female spectators and focuses on toys. Whereas in ‘Oppenheimer‘ Cillian Murphy will be seen playing the lead role. The film is written and directed by Hollywood ace director Christopher Nolan. The film is based on a historical drama which will appeal more to the male audience.
