Bholaa box office day 1: Ajay Devgn is back in his action avatar and fans are loving him. After blockbuster Drishyam 2 became a hit, the actor is back with Bholaa that released on March 30. He has directed the film too.
Bholaa, with Tabu as female lead, saw a bumper opening at the box office and earned around Rs 11.20 crore, said early trade reports. The fact that it was released on Ram Navami holiday, also worked in its favor.
Positive responses from audiences, critics
Audience and critics both gave positive response to Bholaa as it released on March 30. The film saw a bumper opening with Rs 11.20 crore on the first day. According to Box Office India, though it opened to low response in the morning shows, it performed better in mass pockets. Weak performance in major cities like Mumbai and Delhi along with South regions didn’t affect its business as the film minted more than Rs 10 crore.
BOI reported, “Bholaa put up a decent first day total of around of around Rs 10 crore nett plus thanks to a holiday in parts of the country and a decent performance in current after a dull advance. Some of the mass circuits suggest a higher total but is likely to be compensated by a lower ratio of business coming from South and Maharashtra which will have low numbers. There is no holiday in South outside Nizam / Andhra but that had a big local release.”
It further said, “The film did not look reaching these numbers in the morning but due to good performance in mass pockets it has managed to get there. The circuit ratios will be similar to Samraat Prithviraj though as Bholaa has a 3D version there is higher contribution at multiplexes compared to Samraat Prithviraj. Figures of cities in UP and Rajasthan are less than Samraat Prithviraj on day one but still good and its about going on from here which Prithviraj Samraat could not really do.”
Devgn, Tabu reunite for Bholaa
Bholaa is Ajay Devgn’s fourth directorial after You, Me Aur Hum, Shivay and Mayday. The film is a remake of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Kaithi. Ajay Devgn has reunited with Tabu in the film. The film is the story of Bholaa who, after ten years of imprisonment, is finally going home to meet his young daughter. But his journey is difficult with lot of obstacles and death lurking around every corner.
