The Bombay High Court on Wednesday granted conditional bail to Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty and two others. However, the court rejected her brother Showik’s plea, her lawyer Satish Manshinde informed.
The hearing on the bail applications was announced by Justice S. V. Kotwal who had previously reserved his ruling on September 29.
Rhea has been granted bail for Rs 1 lakh while Deepesh Sawant and Samuel Miranda paid Rs 50,000 each for the same.
The High Court has set some conditions for Rhea’s bail which she has to abide by under all circumstances.
Here’re the conditions:
*Submit passport
*Not allowed to leave country
*Cannot meet with any other witness related to the case
*Must inform Investigating Officer if she is going out of Greater Mumbai, give itinerary advance
*She has to regulary report to the nearest police station.
Rhea and four other accused had sought bail from the high court after the Special NDPS Court rejected their applications last month.
Rhea, who was arrested by the NCB on September 8 for being an active member of drug syndicate, has spent 28 days in the custody.
Welcoming the court order this morning, Rhea’s lawayer, Satish Maneshinde said, “Truth and justice have prevailed and ultimately the submissions on facts and law have been accepted by Justice Kotwal.
“The arrest and custody of Rhea was totally unwarranted and beyond the reach of law. The hounding and witch hunt by three Central agencies — the CBI, ED and NCB — of Rhea should come to an end. We remain committed to Truth. Satyameva Jayate,” said Maneshinde.
Taapsee Pannu, Hansal Mehta were among others from Bollywood who welcomed court’s order.
“Hope her time in jail has sufficed the egos of a lot of people out there who in the name of justice for Sushant fulfilled their personal/professional agendas. Praying she doesn’t become bitter towards the life she has ahead of her. Life is Unfair but Atleast it’s not over as yet,” Taapsee Pannu said.
Soni Razdan also hailed the HC verdict and posted folded hand icons while tagging Mumbai High Court on Twitter.
“Finally!!! She gets bail,” Anubhav Sinha Tweeted.
