BTS: Jin’s military service has been a topic of never ending discussion in Korea and the K-pop diaspora. All members of BTS are allowed to postpone enlistment for an additional 2 years according to the partial revision of the Military Service Act on December 22, 2020, which allows those who excel in sports, popular culture and arts to enhance national prestige, to enlist in military by the age of 30. Jin, 30, is scheduled to leave for Army this year. While the exact date of enlistment is yet to be announced, some media reports have claimed the K-pop star will enlist on December 13. His agency Big Hit has now released a statement responding to the claims.
Big Hit responds to Jin’s military enlistment rumours
According to several K-media reports, Jin will be enlisting for Army on December 13, days after his birthday. However, Big Hit Music have refuted the claims stating, “It is difficult to confirm. We ask for your understanding.”
Earlier, it was revealed that Jin will receive his five weeks of basic military training course in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province, and then will be placed in a military unit afterward. However, Jin was not happy with the information being made available to general public. Reacting to it, Jin posted, “Though an article I didn’t want was posted, our ARMYs should not come to the training base…There will be many people besides me because it will be chaotic/crowded, it could be dangerous.”
