A large number of artists attempt their luck in the film industry each year, but relatively few succeed. One performer in particular, who used to live in a 10×10 chawl and whose initial salary was only Rs 1500, now asks an astounding Rs 20 crore each film. It’s none other than Vicky Kaushal.
The Journey of Vicky Kaushal
The fame-seeking path of Vicky Kaushal, the son of action and stunt director Sham Kaushal, was not like any other. Vicky was urged to study engineering by her father, who wished for a steady profession for him outside of show business. 2009 saw Vicky graduate from Mumbai’s Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology with a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications. But he discovered his actual interest was filmmaking when on an industrial tour to an IT business.
Early Struggles and Breakthrough
Vicky had many ups and downs during her early years. He didn’t let that stop him, either, and he started out in the film business as an assistant director on Anurag Kashyap’s “Gangs of Wasseypur.” His career was greatly influenced by this encounter.
Vicky disclosed the financial struggles his family was going through in an interview. He revealed, “I was born in a chawl, in a 10 by 10 room, and we used the same bathroom as other families. Before becoming a successful stunt director, my dad faced several financial difficulties, but my parents made sure my brother and I were aware of our family’s hardships.”
Rising to the Top
As a superstar today, Vicky Kaushal competes against Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor among other Bollywood stars. Surprisingly, in 2023, his box office hits “Dunki,” “Sam Bahadur,” and “Zara Hatke Zara Bachke” even surpassed movies starring Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.
In 2021, Vicky Kaushal married the famous Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif. Widespread media coverage of their wedding celebrated their union and made them even more lovable in the eyes of their followers.
Upcoming Projects
Vicky Kaushal’s captivating performances never fail to charm audiences. His upcoming film is “Bad Newz,” a comedy-drama helmed by Anand Tiwari, which also stars Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk and is slated for release in July. “Chhaava,” another intriguing film in development that stars Rashmika Mandanna, is expected to be released later this year.
