Bollywood is known for its glamorous stars and their ups and downs in the film industry. From Deepika Padukone to Katrina Kaif, many leading actresses have faced setbacks despite their stardom. One such actress is Anushka Sharma, who has worked with all three Khans of Bollywood but has also seen her share of failures.
Anushka Sharma’s Career Struggles
Anushka Sharma starred in the 2015 film “Bombay Velvet,” directed by Anurag Kashyap, which turned out to be a massive commercial disaster. Despite a budget of Rs 120 crore, the movie only managed to earn Rs 23.71 crore net in India and a worldwide gross of Rs 43.20 crore. The film also featured Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, and Manish Choudhary in pivotal roles.
Her last leading role was in the 2018 film “Zero,” where she played a scientist opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Despite a hefty budget of Rs 200 crore, the movie struggled at the box office, earning only Rs 178 crore worldwide. Although she had successful ventures like “PK” with Aamir Khan and “Sultan” with Salman Khan, these flops added a dent to her otherwise illustrious career.
Massive Fan Following and Social Media Presence
Despite her film setbacks, Anushka Sharma enjoys a massive fan following on Instagram, with 67.3 million followers. Surpassing the follower count of legendary actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Hrithik Roshan, she remains a popular figure on social media.
Upcoming Project and Comeback
Anushka Sharma is set to make her comeback with the biopic “Chakda Xpress,” portraying former Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami. Directed by Prosit Roy, who previously worked with Anushka on “Pari” in 2018, the sports drama also stars Renuka Shahane, Anshul Chauhan, Koushik Sen, and Mahesh Thakur.
