OMG 2: The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is taking preemptive measures to avoid any potential backlash over the dialogues and scenes in the upcoming film Oh My God 2 (OMG 2). The CBFC’s revising committee is carefully examining the content of the film, which is a sequel to the 2012 hit OMG – Oh My God starring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal.
CBFC to review ‘Oh My God 2’
The CBFC aims to ensure that the dialogues and scenes in OMG 2 do not create any issues or hurt religious sentiments. Although specific details about the concerns raised by the CBFC have not been revealed, the board’s revising committee will review the film and make a decision before its theatrical release on August 11.
According to sources cited in a recent report by India Today, the CBFC wants to avoid a situation similar to the backlash faced by the film Adipurush over its dialogues. The board is taking this precautionary step by closely examining the dialogues and scenes in Oh My God 2. Films dealing with subjects related to God or religion will now be sent for review and revision by the CBFC.
About ‘Oh My God 2’
Oh My God 2, directed by Amit Rai, features Akshay Kumar in a character inspired by Lord Shiva. The film also stars Yami Gautam, Pankaj Tripathi, and Arun Govil, known for his portrayal of Lord Ram in the iconic TV series Ramayan. The clash between Oh My God 2 and Gadar 2, featuring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, is eagerly anticipated at the box office.
The original OMG – Oh My God, released in 2012, followed the story of Kanji Lalji Mehta (Paresh Rawal), who files a case against God for the destruction of his shop in an earthquake. The film was a satirical comedy that also featured Mithun Chakraborty and Govind Namdev alongside Akshay Kumar.
OMG 2 takes a different approach by showcasing Akshay Kumar as the god Shiva. While the film’s teaser released on July 11 introduced Pankaj Tripathi as the co-star, replacing Paresh Rawal, no major controversies have surfaced so far.
