According to an official, the Palamu district authorities in Jharkhand have ordered probes into charges that Covid-19 guidelines were not followed during the inauguration of a hotel on Friday, which was attended by Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar.
During the programme in the hotel in Medininagar, the district headquarters, locals complained to the administration about alleged violations of Covid-19 restrictions, according to Palamu Deputy Commissioner Shashi Ranjan.
The matter would be investigated by a senior official of the district administration, the deputy commissioner said.
The hotel management, however, denied that Covid norms were violated during the inauguration.
According to a hotel official, the Bollywood actor, who was the event’s chief guest, told the hotel management that due to Covid-19, she would only be able to attend for an hour, rather than the two hours she had planned.
Matondkar addressed the gathering online from a closed room, the official claimed.
She then left for Ranchi from where she would take a flight for Mumbai.
