David Dhawan undergoes angioplasty, stent implanted: Reports

Noted filmmaker David Dhawan along with Govinda gave Bollywood some of its best comedy movies. He had last directed Collie No. 1, a reboot of his own 1995 film with the same name. The film with Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan in leading roles tanked at the box office. The actor, who has been on a professional break for two years now, has had diabetes for the past two years. In the recent, it has been reported that the actor filmmaker recently went through angioplasty.

David Dhawan undergoes angioplasty

The filmmaker was reportedly forced to undergo an angioplasty at a hospital in Mumbai. It happened a few weeks ago and has only recently been reported.

The filmmaker underwent angioplasty at the HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai, as per a TOI report. A stent has been implanted, he added. He is doing better now, the report added. 

A source said, “Mrs Lali Dhawan, Varun and Rohit were very worried during the phase that his heart problem began, but everything is fine now. Touch wood.”

David Dhawan has directed a number of successful Hindi films, including Partner, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Coolie No 1 (1995), and many others. Coolie No.1, a remake of his own film, was his most recent directorial effort. Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan appeared in it. In 2020, the film was released on Prime Video.

He previously directed Judwaa 2, which starred Varun Dhawan, Taapsee Pannu, and Jacqueline Fernandez.

David Dhawan has directed over 40 films in his career spanning four decades. He directed 18 films with Govinda, most of which are still remembered as cult classics including Bade Miyan Chote Miya, Haseena Maan Jaayegi and Partner among others. He had last directed Judwaa 2 and Coolie No 1, both starring his son and actor Varun Dhawan.
