Dream Girl 2 Review: Ayushmann Khurrana transforms into Pooja
Ayushmann Khurrana returned on the screens with another challenging role and this time his role as Pooja wasn’t limited to close-up shots of his lips but he transformed into the glamorous avatar with the excessive use of VFX. Raaj Shaandilyaa has assembled an ensemble that will take you back to the early 2000s. At frequent intervals, names like Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Vijay Raaz, and Annu Kapoor appear on television. The script is also a mishmash of gags and jokes that are better left in the past and will not appeal to today’s audience as a new audience is introduced to the film.
Story and Performance
The film’s greatest highlight of the movie is its stud boy or a young lady – Pooja, played by Ayushmann. The challenge for the Ayushmann isn’t in fair reproducing Pooja but or maybe sparing her from getting to be a boisterous caricature or an unpalatable stand-up act. Given his determination to create indeed the shoddiest of scripts to some degree tasteful, Ayushmann goes in for the slaughter as Pooja. Everything from his voice to his walk to the expressions of his eyelids is heart-winning. His versatility shines when he transforms into Pooja and Karam smoothly.
This time, the plot of the film spins around Karam and his lady love, played by Ananya Panday, managing money-related circumstances that prevent them from getting married. To gain money for his marriage, Karam decides to transform into Pooja to marry the son of a wealthy businessman. The story has numerous subplots and characters that crossways in a few silly ways.
The second half of ‘Dream Girl 2’ becomes a bit of a nightmare, with the tempo becoming unbearably sluggish and the jokes falling flat. The climax is a huge letdown, and the way it plays out feels forced and unnatural. Pooja’s existence and the reason she appears likeable have a context, and when that premise begins to fall apart, the film begins to deviate. Dream Girl 2 would not have been possible without the cooperation of the senior ensemble cast, which included Seema Pahwa, Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor, and others.
Conclusion
Overall, the performance delivered by Ayushmann Khurrana will leave a lasting impact on the audience and keep them hooked to the screens. His versatility speaks louder in the film as he flawlessly did both roles in the film. He is the main reason you should go and watch the film because the big screen experience will be exciting.
