Elvis Presley is a name everyone knows around the world, even decades after his death. Arguably the biggest performing artist in the world and the undisputed King of Rock and Roll, he was more than a musician; he was one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century.
So it’s no surprise that his biopic was so highly anticipated and created so much buzz. Directed by Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge, The Great Gatsby, and Romeo and Juliet), and starring Austin Butler in the titular role, the film was of course a hit as soon as it hit cinemas. The star-studded cast includes Tom Hanks, who plays Presley’s manager Colonel Tom Parker. Other cast members include Chaydon Jay as young Elvis Presley, Olivia DeJonge, Dacre Montgomery, Helen Thomson, Richard Roxburgh, and Alton Mason.
Elvis was released in theaters on June 24 and has since gone on to become the second highest grossing musical biopic, raking in $269.7 million at the global box office by the latest count.
