Many fans gathered in flocks gathered at Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Friday evening to pay their final tribute to Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar; he passed away at the age of 46 after suffering a heart attack earlier in the day. His mortal remains were shifted to the stadium for public viewing.
To pay his last respect, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai was present at the stadium on Friday evening, along with other eminent personalities. His final rites which will be done with state honours on Saturday, soon after his daughter arrives from the US.
Bengaluru Commissioner of Police, Kamal Pant at the stadium, on Saturday said that on basis of the decision taken by Puneeth’s family, the next stage of security arrangements will be made.
Meanwhile, the police in Bengaluru have directed all the liquor shops in the city to remain closed for two nights as a “precautionary measure”. Intensive patrolling is being conducted to ensure no untoward incident occurs, the police said.
Condolences from varous quarter poured in for the Sandalwood actor Puneeth Rajkumar.
PM Modi said “a cruel twist of fate has snatched away from us a prolific and talented actor”.
Sonu Sood took to his Twitter handle and expressed that he is heartbroken. “Heartbroken. Will always miss you my brother. #PuneethRajkumar (sic),” he tweeted.
