Kris Wu, Chinese-Canadian rapper was sentenced to 13 years in jail for rape of underage girls. A court in Beijing found that Kris Wu is guilty of rape after a series of allegations from Internet celebrities and underage girls were made against him. After knowing about the allegations, the Chinese authorities detained him in July 2021. The 32-year-old rapper-singer made his Hollywood debut with the film ‘XXX: Return of Xander Cage’ starring Vin Diesel and Deepika Padukone. He was also a member of the K-pop band EXO.
Many brands cut off ties with Kris Wu
Jail parade made an announcement regarding this and after the announcement, many reputed brands and companies cut off ties with the K-pop star including Porsche and Bvlgari. The Chaoyang district court issued the order that Kris Wu is guilty of raping three women in November and December last year. The information was updated on court’s official Weibo account and it was mentioned there that “The women were stated to be intoxicated and defenceless when they were raped.” The singer’s guilty sparked like light on the Internet and the netizens have hugely praised the verdict of the court and quoted this moment as ‘witnessing history’. The rapper-singer is the first K-pop singer-rapper in China to face imprisonment for 13 years.

Along with rape case, he was also found guilty of ‘group licentiousness’, which is a gathering of more than two people engaging in sexual promiscuity. Kris Wu joined the list of 88 celebrities who are blacklisted in China for conducting ‘illegal and immoral activities’.
