Rajkumar Santoshi, a Bollywood filmmaker preparing for the release of his film ‘Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh,’ has claimed that he has been receiving death threats and has sought protection from the Mumbai Police. Santoshi requested additional security for himself and his family in a letter to the Special Commissioner of Police in Mumbai. This comes just days after miscreants in the city disrupted the ‘Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh’ press conference.
Rajkumar Santoshi writes letter to seek protection
Santoshi wrote to Mumbai Police CP in the letter, “I, Rajkumar Santoshi, a well-known film director in the Indian film industry, am writing to inform you about the interruptions in a press conference held by our team on 20 January 2023 for the release of the film ‘Gandhi vs Godse’. My production team for the film ‘Gandhi vs. Godse’ was in the middle of a press conference when it was disrupted by a group of people with vested interests. They stormed into the press conference, which was scheduled for 4 p.m. at the PVR Citi Mall in Andheri. Later, I received several threats from unknown people requesting that I halt the release and promotion of this film.”
He added, “I feel unsafe, and I further submit that if such persons are released and no steps are taken by your ad-self, grave damage and injury could be caused to me and my family members, and further losses would be caused not only to us but to the public at large, I humbly request that you take all necessary legal steps in this matter, as well as provide me with additional security to protect myself and other members of my family as soon as possible.”
