Grammy Awards 2023: Viola Davis, a highly renowned Hollywood actress, has achieved the coveted EGOT status, which is a designation for those who have won four of the most prestigious awards in the entertainment world in the US: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. Davis was honored at the 65th Grammy Awards with a trophy for the audiobook recording of her memoir “Finding Me,” adding to her already impressive list of accolades.

In 2017, she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Fences,” and previously took home a Tony award for Lead Actress for the same production on Broadway. She also has another Tony award for Best Featured Actress, which she received in 2001 for her performance in “King Hedley II,” and an Emmy won in 2015 for her role in the popular series “How To Get Away With Murder.”
After winning the Grammy Award 2023, Viola said, “Oh, my God! I wrote this book to honour the six-year-old Viola, to honour her, her life, her joy, her trauma, everything. And it has just been such a journey. I just EGOT!”

Viola is the 18th actor to achieve EGOT
Viola Davis has become the 18th individual to attain EGOT status, joining an elite group of legends that includes Audrey Hepburn, Mel Brooks, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Whoopi Goldberg, Rita Moreno, and John Gielgud.
With this achievement, Davis is now the sixth Black person to earn EGOT status, following in the footsteps of Whoopi Goldberg, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, James Earl Jones, Harry Belafonte, and Quincy Jones. This noteworthy accomplishment by Davis occurs during Black History Month in the United States.
