LK Advani, born on 8 November 1927 is a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party. His contribution in making the Bharatiya Janata Party a major party in Indian politics can be called paramount. He has been the National President of the BJP several times. In January 2008, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) had announced to contest and win the Lok Sabha elections under Advani’s leadership and make him Prime Minister.
LK Advani started his career as a teacher. At Model High School, Karachi, he taught subjects such as English, Mathematics, History and Science. His political journey began when he was elected Secretary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. A few years later he was elected a member of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. After serving various responsibilities, he was finally appointed to the post of president. During this time, the Jan Sangh came close to other political parties and the Janata Party was formed.
Advani has been a film critic. He is very fond of chocolate, films and cricket.
Advani has written a book called My Country, My Life. It is claimed that the book has sold 1,000,000.
