Will the show return for its second season?
The show’s star and executive producer, The Weeknd said to Page Six that he had no intentions for a second season in light of the criticism. The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp were accused of giving subpar acting performances, and the series’ graphic nature was blamed for the controversy.
HBO, however, has taken to social media to dismiss these rumors, clarifying the show’s future. In a tweet, the network stated, “It is being misreported that a decision on a second season of The Idol has been determined. It has not, and we look forward to sharing the next episode with you Sunday night.”
