Heartstopper: The Netflix series managed to charm fans with its sweet, innocent, coming-of-age story of two boys Nick and Charlie who navigate both high school and their feelings for each other in an orthodox society. Kit Connor, who played the role of Nick in the series enjoys a massive fan base, owing to the popularity of the show. However, the love can some time be overwhelming which does not always work in the favour of the stars. The 18-year-old resorted to Twitter to reveal that he is bisexual, but added that he has been forced to come out.
Heartstopper Star Kit Connor Comes Out as Bisexual
Making a rare appearance on Twitter, Connor accepted being a bisexual person, noting that the decision to come out was not his own. “Back for a minute. I’m bi. Congrats for forcing an 18 year old to out himself. I think some of you missed the point of the show. Bye,” he wrote.
While the actor did not specify who forced him to come out, he was recently accused of queerbaiting by some netizens.

Based on Alice Oseman’s graphic novels of the same name, Heartstopper stars Nick as a rugby player who begins questioning his sexuality when he meets Charlie who is often bullied for being a gay. Oseman tweeted in support of Nick after his cryptic tweet, writing: “I truly don’t understand how people can watch ‘Heartstopper’ and then gleefully spend their time speculating about sexualities and judging based on stereotypes,” Oseman wrote. “I hope all those people are embarrassed as FUCK. Kit you are amazing.”
About Heartstopper Season 2
The first season of Heartstopper premiered on Netflix in April and was an immediate success. The second season of the show is currently in production. With only eight episodes at half an hour each, the show makes for an easy binge watch.
In an interview with Variety, the makers of the show spoke about what it aims to achieve. “If ‘Heartstopper’ helps a young queer person in their coming out journey, or if it helps a parent understand their child a little bit better, it is the most lovely and heartwarming thing you could hear and makes it feel like it’s all worth it,” Oseman said.
Connor added, “To have a show where you see queer people being happy and being together and united as a group, I think there’s something really beautiful about that. I think that shows like ‘Euphoria’ that are very queer are still very much sort of adult in many ways because they are very dark and gritty. I think it’s really important to have a show that is just portraying queer love and queer beauty.”
