‘House of the Dragon’ Game of Thrones: HBO’s popular series Game of Thrones, which aired from 2011 to 2019, was also known for its explicit sexual content. David Benioff and DB Weiss’s fantasy drama series based on George R.R. Martin’s book series, A Song of Ice and Fire, had several graphic and sexual scenes. Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon, which premieres later this month on HBO Max, is expected to adopt a similar tone.
Too many intimate scenes
Matt Smith, who plays Prince Damon Targaryen in the upcoming series, has said he thinks it has too many intimate scenes. The actor also said that he wondered if there was a need to do another sex scene for the show.
Do we need another sex scene?
He told Rolling Stone in a recent interview, “You ask yourself, ‘Do we need another sex scene?’ And they’re like, ‘Yeah, we do.’ I guess you have to ask yourself. Will: ‘What are you doing? Are you representing the books, or are you diluting the books to represent time (we’re living in it)?’ And I really think it’s your job to present the books truthfully and honestly , as they were written.” When asked if his character will also be seen in several bedroom scenes, Matt said, “Yeah – a little bit, if you ask me.”

Non-consensual explicit scenes
The producers of House of the Dragon say that Twill will be more careful in portraying non-consensual explicit scenes. Executive producer Sarah Hayes explained in a recent conversation with Vanity Fair that they are choosing not to depict sexual violence on the show, unlike Game of Thrones, which had many such scenes. “We handle an example off-screen, and instead show the consequences and impact on the victim and the perpetrator’s mother,” she said.
Details of the Series
House of the Dragon, one of several got spinoffs that are in the works, is set ‘200 years before the Fall of the Throne’. It also stars Paddy Considine, Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke, and will tell the story of the reign of the Targaryen dynasty.
