Ishq Vishk Rebound Review: The 2003 film “Ishq Vishk” told a charming tale of a collegiate romance. The film starred Shahid Kapoor, Amrita Rao, and Shenaz Treasurywala in the key roles. Ishq Vishk Rebound, the second instalment in the franchise, was released in 2024. With this movie, Jibran Khan and Pashmina Roshan made their Bollywood debuts. Let’s find out in the movie review if the hype around this picture was warranted. The crowd seemed rather thrilled about it.
Story
The tale revolves around three friends, with a fourth character (Naila Grrewal) who appears but receives no unique screen time or role. These three exceptional pals are made up of two guys and one female. In addition, two friends are depicted as being in love with one another—that is, as being in a relationship—while a third friend constantly switches between them like a bone in a kebab. However, it is confusing to see when a rift arises between the two lovers and when a new love angle forms in this friendship circle.
Performance
Three buddies are seen in the movie’s opening scene: Pashmina Roshan, Jibraan Khan, and Rohit Saraf. Naila Grrewal is the fourth female that walks in between them. In “Ishq Vishk Rebound,” Rohit Saraf embodies adorableness to the fullest, and his acting is impressive. Pashmina Roshan, the sister of Hrithik Roshan, was given a lot of screen time in the movie, but she was unable to provide a particularly strong performance. Jibraan Khan and Naila Grrewal were not given any more screen time or opportunities to showcase their acting prowess.
What Didn’t Work in the Movie?
The film is completely made for the Gen Z audience. The movie features a lot of strange romance. It appears that the filmmaker intended to depict the narrative of modern-day confused couples and friends falling in love but it totally fell flat. The movie doesn’t do justice to friendship or romance. The narrative lacks an interesting plot and this is the main drawback in the movie because the audience gets bored without any plot. It looked like the movie was made to show the beauty of Dehradun because the actors’ homes and colleges are situated there.
Direction
The director of the film is Nipun Dharmadhikari. The movie lasts for almost 2.15 hours. While the director does an excellent job of capturing the grandeur of Dehradun, the characters are given little reason to exist. From start to end the film moves forward as a story which is being narrated by the character of Rohit Saraf.
Conclusion
The plot, twists and turns are very necessary in a narrative to keep the audience glued to their chairs. If any movie lacks a proper plot then the actors need to deliver next-level performance. Unfortunately, this movie lacks both; good acting and an intriguing tale. The movie is solely based on the Gen Z audience but its bad portrayal failed to impress them as well.
