Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez was relieved on Friday when Delhi’s Patiala House Court gave her permission to go to Dubai from January 27 to 30, to attend the PepsiCo India conference. The hearing comes after the actor filed a case in a Delhi court alleging that she has been invited to the event in Dubai as a star performer for a concert on Sunday, January 29.
Jacqueline Fernandez granted bail in the case
Fernandez is one of the defendants in a Rs 200 million money laundering case that also includes suspected conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. On November 15, 2022, she was granted regular bail in the case. Fernandez was not arrested in connection with the crime. Additional Meetings Judge Shailendra Malick, who had previously scheduled the case for Friday after the ED requested more time to file a thorough response to her application, issued the final court decision on Friday.
During the court hearing, Fernandez’s lawyer argued that the actor had a contractual responsibility to fly to Dubai and may be sued if she did not attend the event. The actor’s lawyer also informed the Patiala House Court that she was recently nominated for an Oscar, which is a source of pride for the country.
The hearing has been deferred until February 15
Fernandez filed a similar petition in December of last year, asking permission to see her ailing mother in Bahrain, but withdrew it because the court refused to allow her to fly abroad. Earlier last week, a Delhi court granted the Bollywood star a one-day stay of proceedings in the money laundering case. The hearing has been deferred until February 15 by Additional Sessions Judge Shailender Malik, who was supposed to hear arguments on framing charges in the matter.
