Jawan vs Aakhree Raasta: What is common between the films of Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan? Check out the similarities

Jawan vs Aakhree Raasta

Jawan vs Aakhree Raasta: Following the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, many moviegoers suspected that several important plot parts of director/writer Atlee’s film were influenced by Amitabh Bachchan’s 1980s classic Aakhree Raasta. Viewers were able to draw some comparisons between the two films due to the same premise of a son seeking justice for his contaminated father in both stories. The fact that both films portray the starring man as a cop adds to the coincidence.

Cinema analyst talks about the similarities

Dilip Thakur, a cinema analyst and historian, explained the similarities between the two films to ETimes. Thakur explained, “Aakhree Raasta’s plot revolved around a father and son. The film’s heroine was Jaya Prada. Tinu Anand, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, and Kader Khan try to harass Jaya Prada in the film, and she dies as a result. Amitabh Bachchan’s character ages, and his son (young Amitabh) becomes a cop. Amitabh gets his revenge one step at a time. Amitabh, a young inspector, seeks to figure out who the murderer is. That was the plot.” Thakur thinks that, despite their obvious similarities, Jawan and Aakhree Raasta are very different films.

Aakhree Raasta was a remake

Thakur continued, recalling some noteworthy facts regarding Mr. Bachchan’s film, “The film was a semi-fit. Aakhree Raasta, directed by K. Bhagyaraj, was a remake of the Tamil film Oru Kaidhiyin Diary, which starred Kamal Haasan. During that time, Kamal Haasan’s films were frequently remade. Amitabh Bachchan’s career was on the decline when Aakhree Raasta was released in 1986. Prior to that, he had a hit with Mard, although the picture received mixed reviews. During the 1980s, he was hailed as a middle-aged hero. He made a couple of writing choices that were incorrect.”
