The charities chosen by Depp cover a wide range of causes, reflecting his dedication to making a positive impact on society. Among the recipients is the Make-A-Film Foundation, which pairs industry professionals with children facing life-threatening illnesses, providing them with a unique and inspiring filmmaking experience. Another charity, The Painted Turtle, offers free camp programs that bring joy and transformational experiences to children battling serious illnesses.
Depp’s philanthropic endeavors extend beyond helping children, as he has also allocated funds to Red Feather, an organization dedicated to partnering with Indigenous communities in developing sustainable and impactful housing solutions. Additionally, Depp has chosen to support Marlon Brando’s Tetiaroa Society charity, which focuses on preserving island and coastal communities, and the Amazonia Fund Alliance, which provides crucial financial support to Brazilian non-profit organizations. The decision to donate the settlement money comes amidst the ongoing legal dispute between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, who were married in a private ceremony in 2015 before filing for divorce in 2016. Heard alleged instances of physical abuse by Depp during their relationship, which gained significant media attention during their highly publicized divorce case.
