SS Rajamouli’s film RRR has made India proud by bringing home an Oscar. The viral song, Naatu Naatu, won the award for Best Original Song, beating out strong contenders like Rihanna and Lady Gaga. Jr NTR, who played the role of Komaram Bheem in the film, expressed his delight at the news, stating that the win was not just for RRR but for the entire country. He went on to say that this achievement showcases how far Indian cinema has come and raises the bar even higher.

At the Academy Awards ceremony, Naatu Naatu was performed live by singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, while dancers from Los Angeles recreated the viral hook steps.
Celebrating the Oscars win of Naatu Naatu, he said, “I cannot find the words to express my emotions right now. This is not just a win for RRR but for India as a country. I believe this is just the beginning. Showing us how far Indian cinema can go. Congratulations to Keeravaani garu and Chandrabose garu. Of course, none of this would have been possible without a master storyteller called Rajamouli and the audiences who showered us with all the love. I would also like to congratulate the team of ‘he Elephant Whisperers on their win today bringing another Oscar to India.”

RRR is an action-packed drama featuring Jr NTR and Ram Charan as the tribal leader Komaram Bheem and the revolutionary Alluri Sita Rama Raju, respectively. Set in pre-independence India, the fictional tale revolves around their friendship and highlights their struggle against British rule. SS Rajamouli’s first film after the success of Baahubali 2 also marks Alia Bhatt’s Tollywood debut.
