Karan Johar, the popular director behind films such as “Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and Kal Ho Naa Ho,” recently expressed his displeasure at a comedian’s portrayal of him on a television show. The impersonation, which Johar called “in exceptionally poor taste,” made him sad rather than outraged.
Karan Johar’s Disappointment on Social Media
While watching TV with his mother, Johar came upon an advertisement for a reality comedy programme. In the advertisement, a comedian (who Johar did not name) was impersonating him in a way that Johar felt offensive. He expressed his anger on Instagram story, emphasising the distinction between being mocked by nameless people online and being insulted by someone in the profession.
Social Media Detectives and Kettan Singh’s Apology
Though Johar did not name the show or comedian, social media detectives were eager to solve the puzzle. Many Reddit users assumed that Johar was referring to Kettan Singh, a comedian who appeared on Sony TV’s “Madness Machayenge.” A recent teaser for the show did actually feature Singh impersonating Johar, even rebranding his successful talk show “Koffee with Karan” to “Toffee With Churan.”
Kettan Singh apologised sincerely when Johar publicly expressed his disappointment. Singh expressed his love for Johar’s work, noting that he is a huge admirer of his films and chat show. He insisted that his objective was solely to entertain the crowd and apologised if his impersonation caused any offence.
