Kargil Vijay Diwas 2023: Bollywood celebs pour in heartfelt tributes to honour real-life heroes

Kargil Vijay Diwas 2023: On the solemn occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, celebrated annually to commemorate India’s victory in the Kargil conflict against Pakistani infiltrators in 1999, musicians from across the country shared their heartfelt experiences of performing for the brave Kargil warriors. These musicians expressed their euphoria and pride in being able to contribute to the celebrations dedicated to the valiant soldiers who fought tirelessly for the nation’s honor.

Kailash Kher 

Renowned singer Kailash Kher reminisced about his special performance in Kargil (Ladakh) on Kargil Vijay Diwas in 2017. Almost 5,000 Army officers and their families were present at the event. The soldiers’ stories of courage and selflessness deeply moved Kailash Kher and his band. One particularly emotional moment was when a young officer revealed how he found solace in Kailash Kher’s song “Teri Deewani” during his posting at Tiger Hill. Kailash Kher expressed immense pride and gratitude for having a talent that could bring joy to the jawans.

Ricky Kej

Grammy-winning composer Ricky Kej also had a profound experience when he performed at the Sonam Wangchuk Stadium in Leh (Ladakh) in 2019, commemorating 20 years of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The stadium was filled with around 12,000 Army soldiers in their uniforms, creating an electrifying atmosphere. Ricky Kej, who performed songs highlighting nature, environment, Indian culture, and more, was deeply moved when Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh honored him with a memento. Ricky Kej’s performance was his humble contribution to show respect and gratitude to the Indian Army.

Shibani Kashyap

For singer Shibani Kashyap, performing for the Army holds a special significance as she comes from an Army background. In 2016, she dedicated shows to the Kargil warriors in both Kargil and Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir). The energy during her performances was infectious, with the soldiers showing overwhelming emotions when she sang patriotic songs like “Suno Gaur Se Duniya Waalon” and “Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon.” Being a part of the Army family, Shibani Kashyap felt an instant connection with the jawans and considered her performance a gesture of love and respect.

DJ Sheizwood

DJ Sheizwood had the privilege of performing at an event dedicated to the Kargil warriors in Chandigarh back in 2009. The event was attended by over 500 jawans and their families. The sight of so many uniformed soldiers filled him with immense pride. He performed a blend of patriotic and Bollywood songs, creating a high-octane atmosphere. One touching moment was when a mother approached him with a dedication for her son, who served in the Army, requesting him to sing “Vande Mataram.” DJ Sheizwood was deeply touched by the love and enthusiasm shown by the brave soldiers.
