Actress Taapsee Pannu is known for her different types of films as well as flawless statements. Born in Delhi on August 1, 1987, Taapsee belongs to a Sikh family. His father Dilmohan Singh is a businessman while mother Nirmaljit Pannu is a homemaker. Taapsee was very good at reading, in school days. Apart from this, she was also interested in sports.
From the age of eight, Taapsee started learning Kathak and Bharatanatyam. For eight years, she took classical dance training. Tapasi did her schooling from Mata Jai Kaur Public School, Delhi. She then studied engineering in computer science from the Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology.
After studying, Taapsee worked as a software engineer for about six months. During this time she auditioned for Channel V’s talent show ‘Get Gorgeous’. She got selected and pursued a career in modeling. Taapsee advertised companies including Coca Cola, Motorola, Pantaloon, PVR Cinemas, Dabur, Airtel, Tata Docomo among others.
Taapsee Pannu made her acting debut in Telugu film titled Jhummandi Naadam. In the film directed by K. Raghavendra Rao, the actor was paired opposite Manoj Manchu. The film released in 2010.
Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury directed film Pink was one of the most critically acclaimed Bollywood film in the recent past. This 2015 social thriller drama featured Amitabh Bachchan along with Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang.
This film raised some controversial issues which women have to face in society. Like ‘how the length of your cloth decides your character’ or ‘how ‘No’ means ‘No’ under any circumstances’. Taapsee performed phenomenally while playing the character of the main protagonist Minal. This film won the National Film Award for Best Film on social issues.
