Laapataa Ladies: Nitanshi Goel who made a small appearance in MS Dhoni’s biopic, as she played a family member of Priyanka (played by Disha Patani) recently earned her big break with Kiran Rao directorial ‘Laapataa Ladies.’ Aamir Khan produced this film has been selected as the official submission for the Oscars. ‘Maidaan’ actress in an interview with podcaster and YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia revealed a scene in the film that made Kiran Rao cry.
Nitanshi Goel Reveals the Scene that Made Kiran Rao Cry
Nitanshi Goel never stops showcasing love and respect for her director Kiran Rao. In an interview with Ranveer Allahabadia, the Sajni Re fame Nitanshi revealed how a special scene made everyone emotional after the shoot. Ranveer asked Nitanshi which scene was the hardest for her. To which she replied, ‘One scene where phool gets lost. Next morning, she wakes up in the bathroom and she has a full breakdown scene. That was initially not in the script, how it’s in the film right now.’
While talking about Kiran, she said, ‘I went up to her, and I told her this is the scene and I’m thinking of putting a breakdown scene in this. Because Phool has to be vulnerable. It’s like, when a child is lost, how do their emotions get all over the place? And she’s like I was thinking the same thing.’ Nitanshi expressed her happiness of thinking the same thing as Kiran Rao. She further talked about her preparation for the scene. She said, ‘In the scene, I am normal and from there, I go to my highest emotional point’. ‘So to get there, it was also not possible to keep myself emotional before the shot. She added, ‘I have to build that up in the take itself, so I was very scared. I didn’t eat anything.’
She said, ‘My mom was trying to keep me calm. But the was day one, I was very scared. It was four in the morning very chill but the shot happened and in one take we got the whole emotions. The moment cut happened, I was crying and looking at everyone, Kiran Ma’am has tears in her eyes. The whole direction team has tears in their eyes’. The actress then said, ‘I thought, Okay, the scene probably went well!’

Every year the Oscar committee in India selects a picture to officially submit for the Oscars. This year everyone was expecting India’s indie film All We Imagine as Light’s selection but Laapataa Ladies overtook the Cannes winner. Some Bollywood fanatics are happy over the selection, some cinema lovers are saying that the choice could be better. Sparsh Shrivastava, Nitanshi Goel and Pratibha Ranta starrer film was released in 2023 at the Toronto International Festival. The film officially released in March 2024 on Netflix.
