Lee Jong-suk: K-drama star Lee Jong-suk and singer-actor IU are dating and their agencies already confirmed the news to Korean media on December 31. After the news went viral, Jong-suk wrote a letter to fans in which he confessed his feelings for IU. He also praised IU for being a person he could lean on and confessed how he had been in love with her for a long time now.
Friends for long
Jong-suk writes in the letter, “And I believe a lot of you would have been surprised due to the articles yesterday, the person in the news. I first met her in my mid-20s and it felt like an inexperienced love, something big that I couldn’t achieve. We have been friends for a long time. Well, I want to elaborate better. She somehow stayed on my mind even when I was living my own life. I think you guys will understand when I say she was like Kang Dan-i to me.”
Kang Dan-i is a character from Lee Jong-suk’s series, Romance Is a Bonus Book. In the show, his character Cha Eun-ho is in unrequited love with the character for a long time. Jong-suk compared his real-life feelings for IU to that of the show.
‘She is an amazing person’
He further praised IU in his letter and shared, “She would share my concerns in life and I could lean on her as my friend. And she is sometimes like my older sister although she is younger than me. She is an amazing person that is mature but also makes me want to protect her. And now she makes me want to be a better person.”
He also expressed regret over not being able to confirm the news the way he wanted. “I should have introduced her well but this is something new to me as well. I am worried about how surprised you would be. I hope you could see us in a favorable light with warm hearts. Thank you again for your support and love throughout the eventful year. Happy new year and I always love you.”
The duo has been dating for four months now. They have been dating for over a decade now. Jong-suk and IU recently spent Christmas in Japan together, and were even spotted at the airport. The agencies confirmed their relationship after a Korean media tabloid broke the news on the internet.
