Legendary Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar has passed away on Wednesday (July 7). The actor was hospitalised at Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital after breathing issues and old-age related ailments. He was earlier admited to hospital on June 6 due to same complaint and was discharged on June 16 He was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU).
Kumar’s family friend Faisal Farooqui tweeted through the actor’s Twitter handle– “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return”
The superstar was accompanied by his wife and actress Saira banu who had been with him throughout his treatment. In a tweet on Sunday she had assured fans that her husband is recovering and will be back home at the earlies, while asking everyone to pray for the legendary actor. Banu’s last tweet read, “Dilip Kumar Sahab’s health is still stable. He is still in ICU, we want to take him home but we are waiting for doctors’ approval as they know his medical condition as soon as doctors allow, will take him home. He will not be discharged today. Need prayers of his fans, he will be back soon.”
Dilip Kumar, known as tragedy king, has appeared in 65 films, some of the most notable being iconic an Naya Daur, Mughal-e-Azam, Devdas, Ram Aur Shyam, Andaz, Madhumati and Ganga Jamuna.
