New Delhi: Vijay Deverakonda is preparing for his Bollywood debut with the Telugu-Hindi bilingual Liger, which is set to hit theatres on August 25. The biggie has gotten a lot of attention because it features the young star in a new, intense avatar. Here’s some more exciting news for VD’s die-hard fans. Vijay has revealed that the pan-India film will almost certainly have a sequel. Puri Jagannadh wrote and directed the sports drama Liger.
Vijay Deverakonda, who was last seen in the commercially unsuccessful World Famous Lover (2020), is set to make a comeback with Liger. The film has become popular among young people due to its catchy dialogues such as ‘waat laga denge’ and ‘I am a fighter.’ Vijay indirectly confirmed the existence of Liger 2 ahead of its release. The heartthrob revealed to BollywoodLife that a sequel to Liger is very likely.
“There will be, most probably. Yeah,” he added. Vijay, however, refused to reveal any details about the proposed sequel’s plot.
Liger is a sports drama starring Vijay Deverakonda as a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter with a speech problem. Ananya Panday will make her Tollywood debut with the film, having previously appeared in the Deepika Padukone-led romantic drama Gehraiyaan. Liger also stars Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, and Makrand Deshpande in pivotal roles. Mike Tyson, the legendary boxer, will make a cameo appearance in the film. Liger is set to hit theatres on August 25.
