After fighting for basic necessities for 70 days, Munawar Faruqui has been announced as the winner of Lock Upp. The Kangana Ranaut show also had Payal Rohatgi, Anjali Arora, Azma Fallah and Shivam Sharma as finalists. Along with the trophy, Munawar also took home Rs 20 lakh cash prize and a brand new car.
Unlike most reality shows, this one zeroed on its winner not only on the basis of votes. The host was given the opportunity to have the last word. Munawar received the highest votes, but Kangana also picked him as the ultimate winner.
Munawar and Payal were arch-rivals on the show and were mostly seen fighting. While Munawar attacked Payal for being a mean person, she called him a manipulator and someone who hid behind his friends.
Earlier, when Kangana announced Munawar as the first contestant among those who made it to the top three, she also revealed that he received more than 18 lakh votes.
Munawar also cracked a few jokes at the expense of his co-contestants. “Those who played Lock Upp like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, are out of the show and those who played it like Kasauti Zindagi Kii are the finalists now,” he said. He also took digs at Payal Rohatgi and called her a perfect fit for the role of vamps in daily soaps.
The show’s producer Ekta Kapoor also took to social media to congratulate the winner. She shared a video in which Kangana was seen announcing the winner of the show. “Mirror mirror on d wall who is d ‘fair’est of them all !!! Meet @munawar.faruqui who got 18 lac votes and @kanganaranaut vote too!!! THE V FIRST WINNER OF #lockupp JAI MATA DI,” she wrote.
During the finale, Kangana had also announced how Prince Narula was never a contestant. She said that Prince was sent inside the show only as a troublemaker and was never a contestant and added saying that Prince has bagged a big project with Alt Balaji, instead of winning the Lock Upp trophy.
Meanwhile, if reports are to be believed, Munawar Faruqui will next be seen in Khatron Ke Khiladi 12.
