Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar has accused Karan Johar of tweaking his film title in his upcoming reality web-series after he refused to let him use it. According to Bhandarkar, he has been working on a project called ‘Bollywood Wives’ and Karan wanted to borrow it, but when he refused to give the title to him, he just twisted it to ‘Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives’.
Calling it morally and ethically wrong, Bhandarkar requested Karan to not dent his project. He wrote, ‘Dear @karanjohar U & @apoorvamehta18 had asked me 4 the title #BollywoodWives for web, which I refused,as my project is underway. It is Morally & ethically wrong u to tweak it to #TheFabulousLivesofBollywoodWives. Pls do not dent my project. I humbly request u to change the title.’
Apart from tweeting, Madhur Bhandarkar has also filed a complaint against karan Johar’s Dharma productions with Indian with Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association (IMPPA).
Responding to Bhandarkar, IMPPA said that they haven’t granted permission the makers of Faulous Lives of Bollywood Wives to use the title and wrote to the Guild informing the same.
IMPPA have now asked Dharma Productions to change the title of their web series.
