Met Gala 2023: Met Gala 2023, the annual, invitation-only fundraising gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute is currently underway in New York. Some of the biggest celebrities chose to wear weird outfits to one of the most high-profile events of the year.
Let’s take a looks at some of the most outrageous outfits at the event.
Jared Leto’s fluffy catsuit
Expect Jared Leto to some of the craziest looks at the Met Gala. He didn’t disappoint on Monday too. Leto rocked up in a full, fluffy catsuit in a tribute to Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved furry friend Choupette. No, it was not the black latex version of Catwoman, but an actual costume reminiscent of a mascot.
The Oscar winner turned up literally dressed as a cat. But how did we recognize him? At some time he decided to remove his giant cat head while posing for photographs and cameras went berserk!
Doja Cat honours famous feline
But it was not Jared Leto alone who shocked the august gathering. Not to be outdone, Doja Cat arrived in an Oscar de la Renta hooded gown accompanied by cat-like prosthetics in honour of the famous feline of Karl Lagerfeld. Take a look:
Meow, goes Lil Nas
The rapper was covered in sparkling silver body paint and jewels. He wore a matching metallic thong, in one of the most ambitious and unusual outfits of the night. Upon closer inspection, fans spotted that his bejewelled eye mask also featured beaded whiskers. This was his way of paying tribute to Lagerfeld’s cat.
And when reporters tried asking him questions, Lil Nas answered by simply meowing and waving his claws.
Jason Derulo meme
And while social media was abuzz with rumors and jokes about Jason Derulo’s fall at the stairs at the Met Gala, the truth is he did not fall down. In fact, he never attended the event.
The joke has been around since 2015 when someone wrongly tweeted about his fall. The photo used for the meme was actually from the 2011 Cannes Film Festival in France, where an unnamed man tried to crash the event and fell down the stairs during the chaos.
However, the meme resurfaces every year around Met Gala event and Jason Derulo denies the report.
