RM military service: K-pop group BTS’ leader Kim Namjoon aka RM is a never-ending source of inspiration. A benevolent art lover, RM often visits galleries. However, this time round, the rapper appears to have taken a spiritual tour as he recently visited Hwaeom Temple in search for inspiration and guidance from Buddhist teachings, the temple said on Wednesday. There, he also talked about his military service and his will to serve the nation.
RM visits Buddhist Temple
K-pop phenomenon BTS leader RM recently visited Hwaeom Temple at Mount Jiri to seek Buddhist teachings, the temple said in a statement on Wednesday. The singer took the trip just before the New Year and also posed with the monks for a picture.
RM talks about his military service
During his visit to the temple, RM also discussed his military service with monks. The musician sat down with Monk Deokmun and talked about his inner thoughts. When the Monk asked him if he was upset about BTS not being exempted from military service, the leader answered, “We want to fulfill our duties to serve our country.” “Only then, can we talk about our rights,” RM said. “I will take the chance to become a grown-up.”
“I hope that BTS keeps making music of love and spread the message of love and tolerance, and not become a musician who just comes and goes,” the monk said.
BTS’ oldest member Jin enlisted for mandatory military service last year in December. Suga, the second-oldest member of the group, is expected to serve as a Public Service Officer. He will reportedly be exempted from the military service owing to a shoulder injury. Now, Namjoon is next in line to enlist for military.
