Naga Chaitanya tied the knot with Samantha Ruth Prabhu in October 2017 and they both annouced their separation after four years in October 2021. Many reports suggested that they both divorced because the Akkineni family did not want Samantha to play bold roles post marriage.
Naga Chaitanya said he is changed as a person
After their separation, Samantha Ruth Prabhu came to Koffee With Karan 7 and she spoke about her separation with the actor. On the other side, Naga Chaitanya also talked about his marriage and divorce in interviews. He said, “During this period of life, I have changed a lot as a person. Earlier in life, I could not open up much. But now I am able to talk things. Feeling very much attached to my family members and friends. It feels very nice to see myself as an entirely new person now.”
Reports claim that Akkineni family did not want Samantha to do bold roles
Naga Chaitanya said this about the roles of the films, “I am game for all kinds of roles. However, those roles should not affect my family and the reputation. I will not accept roles that would embarrass my family members.” Some people connected it to Samantha Ruth Prabhu and reports went viral that they both divorced because Akkineni did not want Samantha to do bold roles. After her divorce, Samantha did an item song in Pushpa and it garnered a lot of praise for the actress.
